THE CAMPS
In the winter of 2019 and 2020, families awaiting asylum hearings with U.S. authorities formed provisional settlements outside international ports of entry, including Las Americas, Santa Fe, and Zaragoza. With shelters in Ciudad Juárez at capacity, they remained along the border, building temporary spaces as close as possible to where their cases would be heard.
The Camps traces these geographies of waiting—spaces where life unfolds in suspension along the edge of two nations.
